Each Legislative Session, TXOGA releases vital statistic 1-pagers for every Texas legislative district reflecting the positive influence of oil and natural gas, including jobs and revenue generated by this industry, as well as the oil and natural gas production. Below you’ll find these 1-pagers for every Texas House and Senate district reflecting updated FY 2022 data including that the Texas oil and natural gas industry paid a record-breaking, blockbuster $24.7 billion in state and local taxes and state royalties – that’s the equivalent of $67 million each day. Since 2007, when TXOGA first began tracking this data, the industry has paid over $203 billion.

These revenues go towards directly funding our public schools and universities, teachers, building and repairing roads and other infrastructure, and supporting first responders and other essential services. Additionally, the Texas oil and natural gas industry is providing some of the best-paying jobs in Texas, taking the lead in developing environmental solutions that are working to reduce emissions and flaring, and securing our status as the nation’s leader in oil and natural gas production, pipeline miles and refining capacity. Economists estimate that direct and indirect impacts of the oil and natural gas industry represent over 30 percent of Texas’ Gross State Product.

Each Legislative Session, TXOGA releases vital statistic 1-pagers for every Texas legislative district reflecting the positive influence of oil and natural gas, including jobs and revenue generated by this industry, as well as the oil and natural gas production and royalty data. Below you’ll find these 1-pagers for every Texas House and Senate district reflecting updated FY 2020 data including that the Texas oil and natural gas industry paid $13.9 billion in state and local taxes and state royalties – that’s the equivalent of $38 million each day. Since 2007, the industry has paid over $169 billion.

These revenues go towards directly funding our public schools and universities, teachers, building and repairing roads and other infrastructure, and supporting first responders and other essential services. Additionally, the Texas oil and natural gas industry is providing some of the best-paying jobs in Texas, taking the lead in developing environmental solutions that are working to reduce emissions and flaring, and securing our status as the nation’s leader in oil and natural gas production, pipeline miles and refining capacity. Further, nearly every in-demand product we need to be safe, to save lives and to power our economy – from face shields and hand sanitizers to high-speed internet connections and computers – is made possible by oil and natural gas. Economists estimate that oil and natural gas represents 30.5% of Texas’ Gross State Product.

2018 Texas Oil and Natural Gas Legislative District Vital Statistics

Below are vital statistic 1-pagers for each Texas legislative district created by TXOGA reflecting the positive influence of oil and natural gas, including jobs and revenue generated by this industry, as well as the oil and natural gas production for 2018 that has ushered in a new era of energy security for Texas and the United States.

As these 1-pagers show, the Texas oil and natural gas industry remains a major force in Texas’ prosperity and provides significant funding for government statewide. In fiscal year 2018, the industry paid over $14 billion in state and local taxes and state royalties – that’s the equivalent of $38 million each day. And since 2007, the industry has paid over $133 billion. These revenues go towards funding our public schools and universities, building and repairing roads, and supporting first responders. Additionally, the Texas oil and natural gas industry is providing some of the best-paying jobs in Texas, protecting the environment and securing our status as the nation’s leader in oil and natural gas production, pipeline miles and refining capacity. Economists estimate oil and natural gas represents 29% of Texas’ Gross State Product.
