FORT WORTH – Former U.S. Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette today headlined the 2023 Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) North Texas Energy Summit where business and community leaders from across North Texas convened to hear from state and federal leaders as well as energy and economic experts.
Moderated by TXOGA President Todd Staples, the summit covered a range of topics including a look at the federal and global energy landscape, the economic impact of the Texas oil and natural gas industry, industry’s future outlook, and an analysis of key outcomes from the 88th Texas Legislature.
In the Summit’s keynote address, Secretary Brouillette shared his perspectives on the importance of the oil and natural gas industry and Texas’ role in bolstering energy security around the world.
“Texas and the United States are poised to lead us into a more secure and prosperous energy future,” said Dan Brouillette, President of Sempra Infrastructure and former U.S. Secretary of Energy. “The reason being: energy, and more specifically, energy infrastructure are at the center of the global policy dialogue at a level not seen in half a century.”
In a discussion moderated by Staples, State Senator Kelly Hancock (R-North Richland Hills) provided an overview of the outcomes of the 88th Legislature and the impact of key legislation on North Texas and the energy industry.
Dr. Dean Foreman, who recently joined TXOGA as its Chief Economist, provided a report on the economic impact of the oil and natural gas industry as well as an outlook on the industry’s future impact.
“To continue meeting our nation’s and the world’s energy needs, we need bold energy policy leadership at every level that treats oil and natural gas as an asset, not a liability,” said Staples. “TXOGA looks forward to continuing to work with our lawmakers and key stakeholders to develop policy that promotes continued growth, energy freedom, global stability, and environmental progress.”
